ABOUT ME...

Matt Scott has spent 20 years pushing the limits of puppetry. His career began in 1996 at the famous Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles. Four years later, he began to build and perform marionettes as Rasputin’s Marionettes. His premiere work of “Freakshow Follies” debuted in 2001, solidifying a grotesque and unique take on traditional marionette shows. With a continuously growing repertoire and cult following in Los Angeles, his edgy style has expanded to include a varied and unconventional slant on puppetry. From foul-mouthed adult monologues, to wanton burlesque dames, and shocking holiday characters, Rasputin’s Marionettes has pushed the envelope of what adult puppetry can showcase to shocked and amused audiences.

Scott’s most recent work was showcased on a 32-city tour across the US with the Pretty Things Peepshow,  his second national tour with the well-seasoned troupe.  His slight-of-hand skills have been seen on television in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fox Network's BonesElvira’s 13 Nights of Halloween, and several commercial works. Other appearances have been with LA's Troubadour Theater Company, Velvet Hammer Burlesque, San Francisco's Velocity Circus, Margaret Cho’s Sensuous Woman, and numerous music videos. Characters are built to comply with show requirements and specifications, themed events, or even as commissioned artworks. New shows and characters are always in the wings, making that the age old art of puppetry in Rasputin’s unique style delightful to an ever-increasing audience.
